1. Attendees are becoming participants.
Leading up to a meeting, most people envision themselves squeezed into a chair, trying to fend off boredom long enough to make it through the whole thing, which is why one of the trends changing the fabric of meetings at the moment is the transition of passive attendees into active participants.

While you should do everything in your power to make your events more participatory, we’ve been in event planning in NY and NJ for long enough to know that there is only so much you can do and there will come a point when you’ll simply have to deal with the ever-shortening attention spans of attendees.
That’s why another one of the trends changing meetings most at the moment is the shortening of speeches and presentations—whether as a whole or via breaking them up into smaller, more digestible chunks—and the addition of more visual content.
You can’t simply hire an expert to give a lecture now, not if you want to connect with all your attendees, including the younger ones, and when choosing your speakers or presenters, you need to make their audience engagement skills a higher priority.
From there, more and more meetings are having their content projected onto walls, weaving images into their presentations more, and creating short videos to get the point across as they can do it very quickly.
3. Meetings are getting more personalized.
In this day and age, many attendees have grown accustomed to having a say in what they see or hear, so when it comes to meetings, they expect to be able to personalize their own experience, and real-time technologies are only making it easier.
The ability to get instant feedback from attendees has allowed for more liquid meetings. More and more planners and hosts are using that feedback to make adjustments to their content, room layout, etc., on the fly to better tailor meetings to attendees’ preferences.
