Corporate events aren’t what they used to be. Event planners and hosts are creating more unique and unusual experiences now for their attendees, and the ones that do it right are making quite an impression.

1. More attendee engagement than ever.

One of the biggest changes in corporate events in recent years has been the preference to shift further and further away from the old sit-and-listen-for-hours approach to a more interactive experience.

Instead of Powerpoint presentations and the like, more and more event planners and hosts are choosing to take measures to directly involve attendees in the content now.

Whether they create hands-on workshops, use event apps and social media to allow attendees to participate and engage that way, design games to encourage participation and interaction, the point is that you can expect to see more and more events aim to increase attendee engagement.

2. Bigger and better event communities.

Nowadays, with channels like social media out there, there’s really no excuse for not being able to create a little hype for your event, but that’s not all people are using these tools for. They’re using them to create event communities as well, and it’s leading to some very effective corporate events.

If you can manage to start building relationships with attendees and encouraging them to do the same amongst themselves via social media and other new channels, you’ll not only be able to create some buzz, you’ll also be able to bring people together and set the tone of your event long before it begins.

3. More socially responsible corporate events.

Many event attendees now, especially younger ones, appreciate some social consciousness. They like to know that there’s some bigger-picture, greater-good type thinking going on behind the scenes. That’s why more and more events are taking measures to showcase their consideration of bigger causes, whether they’re environmental, health related, etc.

In our experience in corporate event planning in NY and NJ, we’re seeing and planning more events that serve local, organic foods, utilize environmentally friendly materials for decor, and prepare specific content around social, environmental, and health related causes.

The bottom line is, there’s a reason more and more corporate events are taking a socially responsible approach. Attendees appreciate the thought, and you want them to appreciate your event experience and remember it, right?
